When the Williams' family was blessed with two surprise additions (Crockett and Lincoln) who were more than 7 years behind their older siblings, we knew we needed more space at our Brenham home. The relocated farmhouse that we moved/built in 2017 just didnt have the space we wanted to have additional kids bedrooms, playroom, office, craft room, etc. So we set out to explore other options.
What we found in the market for exiting ADUs was disappointing. While good for some, we really didn't want a small pier and beam storage structure, finished as a living quarters. We envisioned our ADU as an office were conference calls and zooms could occur without screaming babies, a future space where our kids could stay when they're home from college or visiting with babies of their own and a future living quarters for a parent that may need to live close to us, later in life. In other words - we needed something that would last, something that would appreciate over time.
Remodeling and home additions where incredibly time intensive (which is hard for a family with little ones that need to also live there while work is being done) and they were also very expensive with the rising costs of materials and labor. Through extensive research, a great friendship with another family in Brenham, and God's hands on the effort, a new concept was developed - Howdy House.
Since the concept of Howdy House was built around a focus on family -- office space close to home, future space for grandparent, future space for adult kids -- we have designated the company our kid's company. We are developing it as a business they can run when they are older. A tangible, beneficial, quality product that other families can use as well.
Like our Howdy House structures, the business itself is multi-generational.
